Together with the help of Stellar Art Services, the newly renovated Toronto City Showroom will transform into an exclusive art gallery for the first ever CosArt event being held on Thursday, May 10th between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Two of Canada’s rising prominent artists, Dan Pelonis and Christopher Walsh will showcase pieces from their collections, which will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

Donations will be collected at the door with 100 per cent of the proceeds going directly towards the Children’s Breakfast Club,  a charity working with over 20 community partners to provide a balanced, nutritious, and culturally appropriate breakfast program for low income children in some of Toronto’s most disadvantaged communities. Using a holistic, whole child approach, the program also delivers educational and recreational activities that help children develop strong social, physical, and cognitive skills, leading to improved health and academic outcomes.

Members from the architecture and design community will have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres while previewing the newly renovated, state-of-the-art Toronto City Showroom, where over 20 pieces of art will be displayed.

About the artists:

"

Born in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Christopher Walsh received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of New Hampshire in 1978 and graduated from Pratt Institute in 1983 with a Master of Fine Arts in Painting. He lived and exhibited in the New York City area for 27 years before moving to Toronto with his wife and son in 2008. He has exhibited in solo and group shows in New York, Toronto, and New Hampshire and his art is featured in private and public collections, including PepsiCo, the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey, and the Yale University Art Gallery. Toronto native, Dan Pelonis attended the Ontario College of Art in Design. He then pursued a Master of Fine Arts at the New York Academy of Art. He worked as a studio assistant to Jeff Koons while in New York. A recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Grant, he has exhibited in North America and internationally. Dan uses playful and subversive themes in his pattern compositions; generating friction by merging history with modernity. Working within the Pop aesthetic Dan’s paintings explore the degradation and gradual abstraction of an image when repeatedly painted. The artist’s choice of subject matter and use of shadow combine to make works equally striking and thought provoking. For more information, visit: www.danpelonis.com

This event would not be possible without the help of Stellar Art Services, Toronto’s preferred art services company for the Interior design community.  Stellar will install the artwork throughout the Cosentino Toronto City Showroom, which will remain on display until the end of May.
